Mayor of London and LSE Grants Awards

In a joint bid between the LSE School of Public Policy and the Migrant Democracy Project, Omar was awarded two major grants to conduct a first major study of local politics in London. The project is funded by the Greater London Authority, Impact on Urban Health, as well as the LSE through the Regional Innovation Fund.

One of the main aims of this project is to produce data that will allow us to better understand what the challenges and priorities of local politicians in London are, and suggest policy solutions to improve the way local politics in London is conducted. This project follows up on a pilot initiative completed in June 2023. For a short video description of the current project see here.

Thanks to funding from these two awards, Omar currently co-leads a team of four researchers and 14 research assistants. The final report on the project will be delivered in September 2024.
